Frying eggs in an air fryer is such a game changer. No greasy pans, no standing over the stove, just pop them in and walk away. I usually make these when I’m in a hurry or just feeling too lazy to cook anything complicated.
In just a few minutes, you get perfectly cooked eggs. Whether it’s a quick breakfast or a tasty topping for rice bowls or toast, air fryer eggs are fast, fuss-free, and seriously delicious.
Ingredients
- 2 large British Lion eggs – One egg per slice of bread should work here.
- 2 slices of toast – You should use something sturdy here, like wholegrain or sourdough. It’ll hold up well and absorb the runny yolk without becoming soggy.
- 2 teaspoons of oil – Use just enough to coat the bottom evenly.
- 1 heaping spoonful of kimchi – This spicy, fermented cabbage adds a bold contrast to the creaminess of the egg and gives the dish a nice spicy kick.
Air fryer fried eggs – recipe method steps
Add 1 teaspoon of oil each to 2 ramekins and pop them in an air fryer and heat at 190 C for 2 minutes. This preheating gets a nice little sizzle going and ensures the eggs don’t stick to the bowl.

Meanwhile, crack 1 egg each into 2 small bowls. This lets you check for shell bits and that the yolk stays whole.

Carefully slide your eggs into the heated ramekins. Then, return them to the air fryer and fry the eggs at 190 C for 5 minutes for a golden, jammy center. If you prefer firmer yolks, leave the eggs in the air fryer for closer to 8 minutes.

When the eggs are ready, place one egg on each slice of toast and one heaped spoonful of kimchi right in the middle – don’t be shy! The runny yolk, crunch of the toast, and spicy-tangy kick of the kimchi? Absolutely delicious.

Optional additions
- Spring onions – Add thinly sliced spring onions on top for freshness and a mild crunch.
- Sesame seeds – Sprinkle on top for a hint of nuttiness and texture.
- Chili oil – Drizzle on top for a little bit of heat and a rich, savoury kick.
Meal occasions
When to enjoy egg fryer fried eggs.
Breakfast
This is exactly the kind of morning meal I love — simple, filling, and totally satisfying. If I have the time, I’ll savor it slowly with my coffee. But even on rushed mornings, it’s ready in under 10 minutes, so it never feels like a compromise.
Lunch
When I’m at home and need a quick bite, this is my go-to. It’s effortless, but somehow feels a little more thoughtful than just grabbing a sandwich.
Late night snack
One of my favourite late-night treats — warm, speedy, and hits the spot. A little salty, a little spicy, and a bit crunchy too. Perfect for those moments when you want something comforting but not heavy.
Fried egg pairings I love
- Avocado – The creaminess of the avocado compliments the richness of the egg perfectly.
- Bacon – An iconic breakfast food – adds a delicious salty and smoky flavour that contrasts with the egg.
- Cheese – I love cheddar for cheese on toast, topped with a fried egg, but it can also be good melted on top.
- Mushrooms – Sauteed mushrooms add a deep umami flavour that complements the eggs perfectly.
Pesto is another delicious option.
To make air fryer pesto fried eggs, gather these ingredients:
- Bread of choice
- Pesto
- Parmesan cheese
- Salt, pepper, chilli flakes to season
Then:
- Lightly toast some wholemeal bread or bread of choice
- Spread 2 tbsp of basil pesto on each slice
- Grate a light layer of parmesan over the slices

- Season with salt and pepper
